Tanzania

The evocatively named spice islands

When you have had your fill of Safari on land in East Africa, head to the spice islands of Zanzibar, Pemba and little known Mafia for some rest and relaxation, and of course some serious diving. For total pampering, Mnemba Island is the place to head. For the stunning corals of Mesali head to Fundu Lagoon; and if you are feeling more adventurous then how about a private treehouse on Mafia Island where, at the right time of year, you are virtually guaranteed an encounter with the biggest fish in the sea, the whale shark?

Philippines

The Coral Triangle

Consisting of some 7,100 volcanic islands and islets, many of which don't even have a name, the Philippines seems to float on its own in the Pacific. Diving in the Philippines has more or less everything, and it is all in warm waters. Whale sharks in Donsol, thresher sharks in Malapascua and the world famous Tubbataha Reef to name but a few world-famous spots. On land there is much to see, making this a great place for a land and sea combo.

TIC's Luxury Take

When it comes to luxury, Amanpulo is still the place to beat with its impossibly perfect white sandy beach. But now with the private islands of Ariara, Pangulasian and a host of other new openings, this is now on the map as a luxury destination rather than just being for the more 'hardcore' divers out there.

Oman

Unexplored Divesties

For divers who want to escape the crowds, Oman offers a genuine alternative to the Red Sea, though the diving is very different. If 5-star luxury is your preference then there are places like Zighy Bay and the Chedi.

TIC Recommends

If you want something really spectacular, you could consider our exclusive private dive safari using luxury camps and the very best yachts to get you to the places on land and sea that others just can't get to.

Bahamas

Sharks, sharks, a few more sharks…

Scattered like dabs of possibility on an adventurer's palette, the Bahamas are ready-made for exploration. Just ask Christopher Columbus, he bumped against these limestone landscapes in 1492 and changed the course of history. The opportunity to dive with sharks is the real draw here whether it's the great hammerheads in Bimini, the oceanic white tips of Cat Island or the tiger sharks of Grand Bahama. If these big fish are your thing then you simply cannot do better.

It's not only about sharks

On land the Bahamas rivals destinations like the Maldives for the quality of the beaches and the clarity of the water. A cultural hotspot it isn't, but for sun, sea, sand and fish life, it is right up there.
