RED HOT ICELAND

A journey to the centre of the earth

LIKE ADVENTURE?

Fancy being lowered into a volcano the equivalent of 40 floors- in a window washer's scaffold. Never mind the risk if the power goes out or there is a malfunction with the scaffold, you will be stuck down there in the dark. Still interested? Believe us, you will be if you are an intrepid traveller at heart. We could also arrange a day return trip to Greenland. It is worth it.

TIC CERTIFIED

Hike down Thrihnukagigur, an exceptional Volcano of Iceland. Once inside, the volcano is a Cathedral of geology. The rock walls are like giant fractals, with vivid patches of greens, blues, yellows, reds, oranges and gold. The scale of colours was created by the extreme heat of the eruption superheating the naturally occurring minerals. It is as if the walls are a canvas and the nature the artist..

MUSTANG

Nepal – Where the past is also its present

Mustang lies on the roof of the world in northern Nepal and is surrounded on three sides by Chinese held Tibet. No visitor has been allowed to set foot in Mustang until 1952. Mustang is synonymous with the Flying Caves of Nepal which are undoubtedly the best kept secret of the Himalayas. Intrepid explorers are busy trying to unravel thousands of holes that are carved into the fragile, sandy-coloured cliffs in a gorge so large that it dwarfs the Grand Canyon, but the mystery continues.

Can't come back without:

Visit Lo Manthang's oldest monastery, Jampa Gompa, dominated by a three-storey high Buddha statue. Traditional Tibetan women touch up the Mandalas- abstract geometric paintings, used as meditation aids in Tibetan Buddhism- in a huge dark room, lit only by spotlights.

MACHU PICCHU

One of the New 7 Wonders of the World

Macho Picchu is a "must." This archeological site is the most visited place in South America. Machu Picchu provides a breathtaking insight into the Inca way of life and an opportunity to marvel at the extraordinary task of building with such intricacy when the Incas had not even discovered the wheel.

TIC RECOMMENDS

An alternative way of getting to the citadel is by following one of the Inca Trails, a spectacular network of pathways that snake their way among the snow covered mountains, rivers, and overwhelming countryside. This is one of the best trekking routes in the world, since scattered throughout it, you find remarkable archaeological sites and areas rich in unique plant and animal species.

MONGOLIA

The Remote yet the exotic experience

Visit the exotic Three Camel Lodge in Mongolia. Getting there is not easy, but the experience is truly once in a life time. A 'must do' for the intrepid traveler.

TIC TOTAL RECALL MOMENTS

Our Guests will stay in one of 45 hand-made felt gers, or traditional nomadic tents inspired by the homes of nomadic herders. The roomy accommodations offer wood-burning stoves, felt carpets, indigenous furnishings, hand-painted wooden beds, and ceilings that open to the stars. Activities include camel trekking, horseback riding, and visiting families of sheep- and goat-herding nomads.

NAMIBIA

Fairy Circles – Symbolic of the distinctive landscape of Namibia

Mysterious bare circles in the sand dot the landscape along the edge of Namibia's Desert stretching from the north-western Cape into southern Angola. These barren circular patches have been named 'fairy circles'. Dune valleys and grassy plains are often speckled with fairy circles, which do not support flora, making NamibRand the ideal place to visit and view this unique phenomenon.

TIC's Take:

In the modern world of advanced research, innovative technology and information networks, it is refreshing to know that nature can still keep some of her secrets. That is just as well, because no matter how much we progress, mankind will always be humbled by the mystery of the universe.
