Machu Pichhu had been on my radar for about 2 decades now, and it feels good to finally make it….
Having travelled across many countries and sites, I am not easily overawed, and can take a lot in my stride. However, believe you me, Machu Picchu, catches you by surprise. It not only lives up to the hype but also exceeds expectations. Mach Picchu is an enchantress – the fresh air, the lush green mountain tracks, the quaint little town at the base near the train station, the way the locals have adapted to the world traveller, the site itself – laden with mystery and intrigue…. All of these factors make Mach Picchu (or MaPi as it is known locally), a gem you need to discover for yourself. There is no ‘one’ reason you love MaPi, and infact you will feel the excitement starting with the train ride from Ollantaytambo itself, which is where you would take the train to Machu Picchu.
Once you reach the summit, you are looking down at the site of the ancient city, where the Inca site
MaPi has a lot to offer – not only the energy, enigma and purity of the site, but also the warmth of the people. I have to mention our wonderful guide Miguel here, who made the trip beyond amazing. He was immensely proud of his culture and also had wonderful tales of the land ready for us at all time. It was a complete deep dive into history, culture and spirituality.
I think the point of Mach Picchu is to enjoy it for what you see…To experience it with eyes wide open and shut, and most of all, by believing in the higher power of the universe, because not everything is in our control…. That is the Power of Machu Picchu.
